Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby were asked to furnish the Royal Society of Arts Academy in Tipton while Vitra was working with ETH Zurich on 'dynamic sitting'. The ETH report concluded that a forward tilt sitting position had benefits including improved circulation. This led to a collaboration between Barber Osgerby and Vitra to create the Tip Ton Chair.
