TAF Studio has designed the Kori Collection of lamps for Finnish furniture company Artek, which architect Alvar Aalto founded. Kori translates to ‘basket’ and refers to the core element of the light fitting, designed to create a soft and diffuse light. The collection includes a table, floor, and three pendant lights, available in a deep matt white powder-coated finish. The floor and table lamps are also available in bright matt orange. The Kori Collection is manufactured in Italy, with the die-cast light basket made from recycled aluminium. Artek

Artek celebrates 90 years of Alvar Aalto’s Stool 60 with Kontrasti
Artek has issued a new version of Alvar Aalto’s Stool 60 to celebrate its 90th anniversary in 2023. Stool 60 Kontrasti highlights the construction of the stool by inserting a darker thermo-treated birch veneer into incisions in each leg and also into the seat top. As with the original, Stool 60 Kontrasti is made entirely from birch wood. Artek
Artek celebrates 90 years of Alvar Aalto’s Stool 60
Alvar Aalto’s Stool 60 has been in continuous production since 1923, using solid birch wood from the Finnish forests. Offcuts from the L-shaped legs are used to make the stool’s circular seat minimising its ecological impact. Photo © Artek Collection / Alvar Aalto Museum. Artek
