The 'Impressionists in London' exhibition at the Tate Britain displays over 100 works including art by Monet, Tissot and Pissaro, created while the artists were in exile in Britain during the Franco-Prussian war. The Japanese House welcomes you inside the Moriyama House (2005), designed in Tokyo by Ryue Nishizawa (SANAA) and inhabited by Yasuo Moriyama, an enigmatic urban hermit. As well as the full-size recreation of the Moriyama House, the exhibition also features a Japanese teahouse and garden designed by Terunobu Fujimori. The 24th Open House London weekend will this year give free entry to 750 of the city’s best buildings, 140 of which are new to the annual programme. Among the new entries, highlights include Anish Kapoor’s Orbit Tower, the house Cheesegrater architect Richard Rogers designed for his parents in Wimbledon; Here East, the new technology hub and business campus in Hackney Wick and Second Home, a co- working office in Whitechapel that feels more like a nightclub than a workplace.
